Fujifilm FinePix X20 – Video Review

03.06.13

The X20 boasts to be a lot more than its predecessor claimed to be, packing a brand spankin' new BSI sensor and image processor. It addressed the many shortcomings the previous model had, including making that optical viewfinder useful by putting a digital information overlay in there. But does it seriously outperform its predecessor? But more importantly, does it justify spending the extra money over its competitors? We find out.

No it is not. However, Canon does make a waterproof case for it. Look for Canon WP-DC3.

So i have a panasonic Lumix Fz35 and i really want to get a polarizer and uv filter for it but i do not know if i need a DMW-LA3 lens adapter for it? or do i not? and if i have a filter on will i still be able to zoom?

You do not need the adapter, the filter screws directly on. You need to look for 46mm filters.

As far as brand I use Hoya, it is decent mid-range stuff.

Upcoming Carl Zeiss lenses for Sony E and Fujifilm X mounts

For quite some time now photography enthusiasts have been very eager to know what Carl Zeiss has in store for Sony E-mount and Fujifilm X-mount cameras. Ever since the legendary optics manufacturer announced that it will be making autofocus lenses for the two mirrorless camera systems, they’ve never stopped receiving requests for more details on their blog . What’s the big deal, you may ask? Well, the only photographers able to enjoy autofocus Carl Zeiss lenses were Sony Alpha and NEX users. The rest of the world had to make do with manual focus lens lineup. Carl Zeiss has been known for their extremely high quality optics for many decades, but avoided implementing AF motors, which many consider an essential in a modern lens. DSLR shooters are still left wanting, but Sony NEX and Fujifilm X series owners will now have a chance to enjoy possibly some of the sharpest optics around (assuming CZ lives up to its name).

Canon celebrates production of 90 million EF lenses

31.05.13

Canon has announced the achievement of a new lens manufacturing milestone – the production of the company’s 90-millionth EF-series interchangeable lens. This news arrives nine months after Canon announced its production of the 80-millionth lens (August 2012) and clearly highlights the high demand and popularity in Canon’s EF optics.

Production of Canon’s signature interchangeable EF lens series began in 1987 at the Utsunomiya Plant, when the series was first introduced together with the EOS SLR camera system. Since then, the global demand for Canon’s EOS products and lenses has continued to gather pace and in 2011 there was only nine months between the increase from 60 to 70 million units manufactured.
